Dogwood’s mission is simple: Essentially, to be a safe haven for homeless dogs and cats, to humanely reduce their numbers through spay and neuter, to promote kindness and to provide opportunities for beneficial human-animal relationships.
We’ve come a long way in the last 41 years, thanks to a supportive community! Dogwood’s No- Kill shelter now houses over 200 dogs and cats at a time, has a yearly adoption average of around 600 and provides spay and neuter surgeries to nearly 2000 pets, strays and feral dogs and cats. We are able to help many pet loving families by providing a monthly low cost pet wellness clinic and professionally taught low cost dog obedience classes.

Our organization is NOT tax funded. We rely heavily on Dogwood Thrift Shop – the shelter’s six-day-a-week, year round fundraiser. Our little shop, located at 311 South Business Rte. 5 in Camdenton, boasts a clean, bright and friendly atmosphere with constantly changing inventory! You’ll find a store bursting with everything from home furnishings and appliances to novelty items, kids’ toys, tools, hardware, antiques, art, and of course plenty of gently used apparel and accessories. Donate items of all kinds (ask us for a tax receipt) and we’ll turn them into real help and hope for our four-legged friends in need.

Hours of Operation: Mon - Wed & Fri: 10 am to 5 pm, Thurs: 10 am to 6 pm, Sat: 10 am to 4 pm
